WATERLOO: The History of Four Days, Three Armies, and Three Battles By Bernard Cornwell

I can't recommend this book enough. It's one of the best books on a battle I have ever read. A definitive, illustrated history of one of the greatest battles ever fought—a riveting nonfiction chronicle published to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s last stand. I couldn't put it down and finished it in four days!

Check out this great REVIEW from the Wall Street Journal that sums up the book better then I ever could.

A huge diorama of the Battle of Waterloo has been restored to its spectacular former glory after a painstaking cleaning operation to remove 40 years of dust from 31,000 figures on it. Conservationists Kelvin and Mary Thatcher spent five months blowing and sucking grime off the 21,500 toy soldiers and 10,000 horses that make up the 25 square metre model of the battlefield. It's at the Royal Green Jackets Museum in Winchester, UK. More images & text HERE
